Sports Week here in KC for the future Schmidts!!!

Wow - it has definitely been a sports week here in KC for us.  It started out on Monday night where we had tickets to the Royals game versus the White Sox.  Boy was it hott..about 98 at the first pitch and there wasn't a breeze at all where we were sitting.

Tuesday night we started our new small group!  After meeting with the two other couples we look forward to growing this group in all aspects of life - spiritual, emotional, physical and social.  We have a lot of excitement to see what God will bring to the group and how He will develop each and every one of us.

Then Wednesday night, Bryan had tickets for family for the Sporting KC game in the Turner suite as a thank you to the project team for all of their hard work.  His youngest brother Collin was a trooper and drove down from Harlan just for the game, as he is a die-hard soccer fan!  Sporting played Newcastle United as a non MLS game.  The game was pretty good, from what I watched.  I sat inside and chatted with one of the other female co-workers that works for Turner.  The ironic thing about her is that her and her husband both work for Turner, both attended Iowa State, both majored in Construction Engineering and both came to work from Turner out of school...hmmm...does this sound familiar?!

Anyway, I did take time to stop for a photo opportunity with Blue, the Sporting KC mascot.  It was a fun evening out with family and co-workers.  Thanks Collin for making the trek down here!

Now tonight, Bryan had a double header for Turner's mens' softball team.  I went to "watch" with my friend Laura.  It was such a nice evening out, actually not too hot, at 92 degrees. :)  We had a great time catching up and talking and trying to cheer on Team Turner.  Unfortunately Bryan and the guys lost both games....better luck next time!

Bryan's Birthday

As most of you know, yesterday was Bryan's quarter centurion birthday (25)!!!!  As very unusual for me to do on his birthday, we didn't do much.  I told him ahead of time though because I threw him a big birthday/house warming party last year and with the wedding this year, we agreed that we weren't going to spend a lot of money on each other's birthdays this year.  So instead, his roommates took him out on Saturday night to the Fox and Hound bar for some fun!  Sunday he was able to sleep in and I made him lunch.  We all ended up watching the Women's FIFA World Cup Championship game, which unfortunately didn't end the way we wanted it to as the USA lost to Japan.  Then we went to church and then I had a surprise for him....dinner at a new restaurant - A Wine Flights Bar and Grill - with our friends Chris and Megan Coffey, Eric and Lindsey Miller, and Kandace and Matthew Thomas.  We all had a wonderful time catching up, conversing and telling stories, not to mention trying to remember the names of our teachers from Kindergarten on up. :)

The Millers and soon to be Schmidts! :)

The Thomases & The Coffeys!

After dinner we decided to try the new Frozen Yogurt place by A Wine Flights called Banana Island...and...on the way there Chris found $20 in the parking lot.  Bryan then succeeded to find a quarter.  We all got frozen yogurt for free due to the generout parking lot donations! :)  It was a great birthday for Bryan!

Now this week we have the Royals' game tonight for his hard work on the new LiveStrong Sporting Park and then we have a Sporting KC soccer game on Wednesday when they play Newcastle United.  Busy, but fun week ahead!

New Restaurants & Neat Gift

Bryan and I were out one night running errands last week and as we were deciding where to eat dinner we decided to go to Firehouse Subs....delicious subs with lots of meat!

However, on the way there we saw the new restaurant called UnForked.  So...naturally when we decided to delay the start of small group by one week and when Kandace and Matthew (friends from small group) asked if we were interested last night, we went.  Bryan tried two of their tacos, of which he liked for the most part and I tried their Chicken Torta which was delicious!  It's a pretty neat place.

Kandace is also playing a part in the wedding and helping out!  She was unable to make the shower on Saturday, but was still so thoughtful to bring a gift last night.  And let me say...wow!  It was so thoughtful, creative and such a wonderful gift!

Well on to Thank You cards!

KC Bridal Shower

This past weekend was filled with wedding planning, relaxation and good friends!  My best friend from college and Matron-of-Honor, Leah Benson and a good friend from Kansas City and bridesmaid, Megan Coffey threw me a bridal shower for the Kansas City friends here in town.  It was a wonderful Saturday afternoon.  I am so thankful and blessed to have all of you in my life.  I look forward to many more years together as friends! :)

Harlan Engagement Party

This past weekend Bryan and I drove, with Ryder, up to Harlan to celebrate the 4th of July and attend the Engagement Party his mom, sister, aunts and grammie had planned for us.

The party was so much fun!  It was so nice to meet people that had touched Bryan's life some time in the past 24 years.  The females with some help from his brother, Stephen, and uncle, Leo, decorated and set-up the ElmCrest Community Room.  Bryan and I helped his dad cook the meal (chicken with a white wine sauce, new potatoes, slush fruit salad and salad. About 150 people showed up for a fun filled evening!  Bryan and I want to thank Donna, Mike, Chantel, Diane, Denise, Grammie, Danette, Leo, Collin, Joe, Lisa, Stephen, Katelynn and many others who made the wonderful engagement party possible.  We also want to thank all of those who attended and are supportive of our marriage.  We are so blessed by all of you and pray that we can be a blessing to all of you!

Bryan's mom arranged for Collin's and his friend Joe to be our chauffer in Joe's Chevy Impala to the party.

Us with our wonderful chauffers! :)

Welcome to the Paris themed Engagement Party!

After the switcheroo suitcase, fastest dresser game.

Guess who's legs belong to your better half game...Bryan guessed it correct!

My turn...Bryan and Aaron (Fox shirt) traded spaces which threw me all off...I chose Justin (2nd from Right) who is the best man in the wedding.

That's all for tonight...need to get back to addressing envelopes!

Thank you for stopping by and we hope you come by often! :)
