Our Wedding Weekend - Travel or Fire Alarm Theme??....9/17/2011

This day will forever be a favorite memory of ours (probably only topped by the births of future children...and no I'm not pregnant)!  In order to see the professional photos, please see the photos taken by Caleb Jamin Photography here.

The day was rainy, overcast and cool (low 70's, upper 60's), but it ended up exceeding any and all of our expectations we had.

The weekend began with our families getting in to town on Thursday.  We all went Old Chicago for dinner before the festivities of the weekend began.

Friday, myself, mom, Bryan's mom, all of my bridesmaids, and one of the flower girls came to get pampered at Nail Perfection Spa which my sister had planned.  Then we enjoyed lunch at my favorite restaurant, Olive Garden, before heading over to the reception hall to decorate for the wedding reception.

Friday evening we had the Rehearsal & Rehearsal Dinner.  I was more emotional there than I was at the wedding...I think the "it's here and this is for real moment" occurred.  Bryan's parents put on the Rehearsal Dinner at the Matt Ross Community Center in Overland Park and had Affordable Catering provide the food.  The place looked awesome!

Table decorations were beautiful!

Then it was back to the hotels to get some sleep for the big day!

The BIG DAY IS HERE!!!!  Unfortunately my family that stayed at the SpringHill Suites didn't get as good of sleep as they had a fire alarm go off at 12:30 -2:00 am...meanwhile the bridesmaids were at the Residence Inn and the groomsmen were at the Fairfield Inn.

Hair is done...ready for make-up.

Taking a break from photos before the wedding.

Nicole's family photo with dad, mom & Alan and Katrina...notice the red, white & blue...haha!

Bryan's family photo

Bryan waiting at the alter for me with Jeff Kirby, our pastor

My dad started walking me down the aisle, then my step-dad Alan, joined us just after we got in to the church area.  It was such a blessing to have them both walk me down and give me away!

The bridesmaids...the dresses were all the same color, but the lighting changed them in some photos.  From left to right: Chantel (Bryan's sister), Allison (Nicole's cousin), Megan (Bryan & Nicole's friend from KC), Leah (Nicole's BF and roommate from college), Katrina (Nicole's sister)

Promising to love each other through everything...with this ring I thee wed!

Mr. & Mrs. Bryan & Nicole Schmidt

First dance as husband and wife.

After the first dance, father-daughter dance and mother-son dance, the fire alarm started going off...the DJ was awesome and started playing "Shorty Call 911" which was perfect...the dance floor was packed!

Cutting the cake

We were a little messy... Kissing and making up!

Nicole arranged with the DJ to have the guys in the bridal party do the YMCA in costume!

A train line started and we had about 85-90% of all guests in it....it was a blast!

A favorite by some of Bryan's old college roommates...Sandstorm...
and they brought Glow Sticks!

Sunday we had some family and friends over for an open house/gift opening.  It was great to spend more time with people and show everyone our home.  It didn't fail either, that the fire alarm went off at the house too!  However, this was due to Bryan testing the fire alarm out.  What a weekend - filled with lots of family, friends, love, and fire alarms!  Truly we will never forget the weekend and thank all of those that took part of it!  We are truly blessed.
